Read on for more details.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Affordable Care Act<br \/>\n<\/strong>We have to start with the elephant in the room. Often touted as Obamacare by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carecloud.com\/continuum\/how-the-affordable-care-act-will-benefit-your-practice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proponents<\/a> and enemies of the plan alike, the ACA is one of the most prominent issues of the 2012 election.<\/p>\n<p>While we know President Obama\u2019s stance, it\u2019s interesting to note Republicans challenge Mitt Romney\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carecloud.com\/continuum\/how-affordable-care-act-hurt-practice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">views on the controversial law<\/a>. Despite the Obama administration\u2019s admission that the ACA was inspired by the healthcare reform Romney spearheaded as governor of Massachusetts, Romney has referred to the ACA as a \u201cfederal takeover of healthcare\u201d and has insisted <strong>sweeping healthcare reform should take place at the state level.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Information Technology<br \/>\n<\/strong>For starters, National Health Information Technology Week was Obama\u2019s idea. And with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, President Obama injected <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carecloud.com\/continuum\/can-health-it-survive-a-healthcare-reform-shut-down\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$20 billion into healthcare IT<\/a>, establishing a stance that HIT innovation is key to providing more efficient patient care.<\/p>\n<p>Romney\u2019s views on HIT aren\u2019t very well-known, but an American College of Physicians report states that \u201cRomney supports efforts to facilitate information technology interoperability,\u201d a statement that <strong>contradicts Romney\u2019s opposition to the ACA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sustainable Growth Rate<br \/>\n<\/strong>Early last year, President Obama proposed a $3.7 trillion budget to postpone the scheduled 25% cut in Medicare payments to physicians based on the SGR until September 2013. This proposal included cuts to state Medicaid grants, healthcare and COBRA tax credits, and the public health and social services emergency fund.<\/p>\n<p>Mitt Romney has voiced his support of his running mate Rep. Paul Ryan\u2019s budget plan, which leads us to conclude he\u2019s likely to <strong>push for a debt-ceiling plan that would cut Medicare spending<\/strong>. Other than this inference, the Republican candidate has not divulged any specifics regarding SGR.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Obama administration\u2019s FY13 budget establishes $30.7 billion in NIH funding, and President Obama signed an executive order <strong>undoing a number of restrictions on stem-cell research enacted by President George W. Bush.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Romney hasn\u2019t discussed the specific allocation of research monies, but he has taken a stance on stem-cell research.
