The looming health information exchange plans deadline has picked up some press as of late, mostly due to the controversy with states who stand opposed to Obamacare and are refusing to submit their plans and blueprints.<\/p>\n
However, now some of these state governments have an extra month to rethink their stances.<\/strong> The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services extended the deadline for states to submit their plans for HIEs to December 14th<\/sup>.<\/strong><\/p>\n While states will still submit letters of intent to design a state-based HIE by Friday, insurers have a little more time to comply with federal regulations for the exchanges.<\/strong><\/p>\n In a letter sent out to state governors, HHS head Kathleen Sebelius explained that the \u201cAdministration is committed to providing significant flexibility for building a marketplace that best meets your state\u2019s needs.\u201d<\/p>\n What do you think?
